A Deadly Dilemma: Undiagnosed, asymptomatic Long QT Syndrome and variants by L. Edward Davis MD
After having discovered the markers for Long QT Syndrome and also its variants of Brugada and Wolfe Parkinson White syndromes, it has become painfully aware to me that these conditions are much more prevalent than heretofore appreciated. As we have mentioned in other articles, sudden death by arrhythmia is impossible to diagnose post mortem or after a death has occurred. I repeat, you cannot do an EKG on a dead person. Hence untold numbers of sudden deaths have occurred and have been mistakenly labeled as murder, car accident or some other traumatic event. Just recently, a mid twenty year old was killed in a single car accident and the family was distraught even blaming the passenger, her boyfriend, of killing her. A local and popular politician died recently in my home town, just three months after his ex wife died, also a politician. My analysis of him showed him to have the cardiac condition that causes sudden death, while his wife was initially found to have another condition causing sudden death, but subsequently she too proved to have had the cardiac condition. His was found to be Long QT Syndrome while she had Brugada Syndrome. Just three days ago, my high school classmate, also a retired politician, died in a house fire. He also showed the trait. . In fact, they seem to be relatives, having the same last name. The fire was probably caused by him cooking and then becoming unconscious from the heart arrhythmia. These are therefore three cases of sudden cardiac death occurring within a two month span in a small town with a population of around 15,000. This condition may indeed be the number one killer in the world, from infancy to old age.
The reason this disorder is so deadly, for one it is often intermittent in nature. In other words, the Ekg is often normal in persons who have the condition. Unless the person has had a fainting spell, there is no reason to do anything further like a 24 hour monitor to test for the intermittent condition. Hence, if you never pass out for any reason, then you will probably not get diagnosed. What is worse is that often the first black out is the fatal event…..the last one. Hence, the people getting diagnosed with the condition are the ones who were lucky enough to survive a potentially life threatening event. Additionally, Ekgs are not a part of physical exams. Hence our “serial killer” has few deterrents or preventative measures available currently in the medical model. This is why so, so many people continue to die.
Not only does, Long QT Syndrome cause sudden death, but there is a triad of heart arrhythmias that can cause sudden cardiac death. If fact my research indicates that Brugada Syndrome is just as common as Long QT, with Wolfe Parkinson White being the most common cause of sudden cardiac death. Andrew Bretbart, as you know reportedly died of sudden cardiac death. My analysis of him showed no such condition or syndrome discussed here.
Hence, it is time for those with the power to do so, to now step up and give this research its just appraisal. It is a scary thought that persons would interfere with or even ignore a method that provides promise in preventing thousands if not millions of preventable cardiac deaths on a yearly basis. By not giving it a just appraisal, you are playing with human life…. only because you do not understand it or on the other hand do not stand to profit from the technique. You are as deadly as the condition itself. It is time for the western medical model to embrace the eastern one and realize that science without an appreciation of the spiritual is not really science after all. I apologize, if I must, that the creator made a world where the spirit is more powerful than DNA, in certain circumstances. The spirit is real, just as water is real.
Hence, if there is any hint that you may have one of these conditions, we are now offering an evaluation that is more sensitive than any available test currently, since it does not depend on you having a fainting episode to get a thorough evaluation. DNA testing only claims to have a 10 percent accuracy, while our test is in the ninety five percent range.
